Design. It might appear to some that creative explorations and quality-lit environments would be harder to come by these days given shorter project time lines, stricter energy requirements, and tighter budgets But as the following 14 winning projects illustrate, amazing results can still be achieved. (The projects were selected from the 119 entries that we received this year.) It doesn't mean that the process is easy, but it does reinforce how important design thinking is when it comes to the building process, and what can be accomplished despite all of the additional constraints and project requirements. It is also lurther testament to the critical role that lighting plays in completing architecture. Simply put. without light, a lot of great buildings would be left in the dark.
