Building with Genes

摘要

Biological syslems have evolved over the past three billion years to provide a rich array of mechanisms and constructs that are utilised in living organisms today, ourselves included. The living world can provide all the products we need to build and service our built environment. This is clear from more primitive times when we lived in shelters made with wood, leather and straw, and used wood or dung for heat and light. How this could be done now without a major change to our current Western style of living needs some explanation.
