A monolithic bimodal porous Cu with oriented macro-pores and random nano-pores was prepared by a combined process: fabricating monolithic Gasar Cu, depositing Zn coating on the inner surface of Gasar Cu pores, surface alloying, and chemical dealloying. Observed results showed that similar and uniform nanoporous Cu films were formed on the overall inner surface of Gasar Cu macro-pores. The surface of the dealloyed Gasar Cu exhibited hydrophilic nature when freshly prepared. However, spontaneous transition from hydrophilicity to hydrophobicity was observed when the surface was exposed to air for 7 days. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
