Editorial: Building on excellence: A vision for the future

摘要

I would like to begin my inaugural editorial by saying how honored I am to have the opportunity to serve as the next Editor-in-Chief of Applied Physics Letters. The Journal has been a steadfast companion throughout my research career. As a student, my first peer-reviewed journal publication was in Applied Physics Letters and several of my most visible publications reside within its pages. Early in my professional career, I had the Journal delivered to my office and I skimmed the table of contents of each issue as it arrived. This was how I kept up with the latest in my field. Of course, today I skim emailed tables of contents and publication alerts, yet Applied Physics Letters still effectively serves the very broad applied science community. Taking up the position of Editor-in-Chief allows me to give something back to the professional community I have worked in throughout my career through a journal in which I believe.
