On June 5-6, IPv6 was launched. The new Internet protocol is based on a 128-bit signature, as opposed to the 32-bit IPv4 signature that would have run out of IP addresses after about 4 billion devices. Countries and large organizations-GE was noted as one-will receive unique signatures as IP addresses, like telephone numbers, will be assignable using logic.
