摘要

Changing processes to meet the requirements of multiple regulations, determining treatment process changes to remove an emerging toxin, exploring new ways to increase small system capacity, and dealing with endocrine-disrupting chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and personal care products are a few of the emerging issues utilities are wrestling with. Fono and McDonald (page 50) assert that in large part because of the Associated Press story on pharmaceuticals in drinking water, the public will continue to demand that utilities address the issue of contaminants of emerging concern both in the environ ment and the water-even if there is no regulatory guidance requiring them to do so.
