Although conventional photovoltaic devices (silicon-based solar cells) are promising for the conversion of photons into electrons, these devices suffer from the detrimental drawback of high price.1 In contrary, dye-sensitized solar cells have attracted considerable attention due to their features of high-efficiency, long-term stability, easy fabrication process, and low production cost.2-4 A typical DSSC contains a transparent and conductive substrate, a semiconductor film, a sensitizer, an electrolyte, and a counter electrode. The overall performance of a DSSC depends on the compatibility of all components.5
