For as long as humans have existed, they have been sharing, trading, selling and consuming goods. Commerce has gone through a drastic shift in the digital age because of the evolution in consumer behavior. It has gone from the classic - let's fill up the car with gas, drive to the store, get what we need, and then drive home - to an online purchasing phenomenon and there may be no looking back. This trend was increasing organically over-time, with e-commerce now accounting for 16% of total retail purchases compared to 10 years ago, when e-commerce was only at about 5%. However, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic many online retailers have now seen a quantum leap in growth of their sales.
