'Its central London location meant that the project needed to be something out of the ordinary.rnThe £1.6 billion Westfield London scheme was among the portfolio of retail centres that Westfield took on after the acquisition of Chelsfield in 2004. At the time it was partially constructed, and Westfield started the design of a complex roof comprising undulating glass and steel in 2005, taking over responsibility for construction from Multiplex in August 2006.
