The procedure for the fitting of a roof module (10) onto the roof frame (2-5) of a motor vehicle entails applying adhesive to the connecting surfaces of the roof module and/or roof frame, seating the module on the frame, and pressing down the roof module to create a glued joint between it and the roof frame. The pressing down process is carried by a hollow component (12) with an elastic envelope and which is filled with a fluid. The elastic envelope lies at least in those areas of the roof module which cover connecting surfaces provided with adhesive. An Independent claim is included for an automatic device has means to carry out the proposed procedure.
