Southern Airways Express, one of the largest commuter airlines in the U.S., hasentered into a $250 million deal to purchase 20 of aerospace start-up REGENT’srevolutionary zero-emissions, electric seagliders: half plane-half boat vehicles thatfly just a few feet above the water point-to-point thereby avoiding overflyinghomes and other noise-senstive structures.Seagliders provide harbor-to-harbor, overwater transportation at a fraction ofthe cost, noise, and emissions of existing regional transportation modes like aircraftand ferries, REGENT said Dec. 1 in announcing the deal.
