On Feb. 28, Congressman Adam Smith (D-WA) reintroduced the Aviation ImpactedCommunities Act (H.R.6038), which would authorize $750 million for fiscalyears 2021 to 2030 to fund noise mitigation efforts – including sound insulation –in communities outside the 65 dB DNL noise contour that are designated as “aviation-impacted.”The act, which currently has 17 co-sponsors, would require the FAA to interfacedirectly with and be responsive to residents and locally nominated leaders onissues of aviation noise and environmental impacts, Rep. Smith said.
