Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) management involves a unique set of circumstances rolled into a single incident. An MCI doesn't happen in isolation; it's almost always part of another incident, which usually involves some sort of immediate danger to life and health (IDLH). Some examples are an aircraft crash, fire, active shooter incident, structural collapse or mass transit crash. Each of these incidents involves its own responses related to fire suppression and rescue.
