Once upon a time, flying was an exclu-sive way to travel, and passengers were treated more as honoured guests than simply 'walking freight', as they sometimes seem to be now. The culture of high quality service, still so deeply embedded in the culture of Oriental and Middle Eastern airlines, has frequently been neglected in the West in favour of the low-cost approach.
