AMONG THE military hardware taking part in the Victory Parade centred on Moscow's Red Square on May 9 was this Vozdushno-Kosmicheskiye Sily Rossiyskoy Federatsii (VKS, Russian Air and Space Force) Tu-95MS Bear-H strategic bomber. The events celebrated the 74th anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany in World War Two. The aircraft flying over Moscow was '59 RedVRF-94206, named Blagoveshchensk, while the reserve was '61 Red'/RF-94187. Both examples were involved in the Victory Parade for the first time. They are home based at Ukrainka, where they serve the 182nd Heavy Bomber Aviation Regiment of the 326th Heavy Bomber Aviation Division. The two bombers are fitted with underwing pylons for carrying new-generation nuclear Kh-102 and conventional Kh-101 cruise missiles.
