China Southern is intensifying its foray into Oceania with Christchurch in the final throes of turning from a charter service into a regular route. Senior Vice President of China Southern's sales division Li Dongliang told the CAPA Aviation Summit in Sydney recently that the airline is focused on developing a South Pacific market because "Australia and New Zealand presented big opportunities". He said China Southern was well positioned geographically to fly to the region from its Guangzhou base in southern China. It had a larges sales network in 46 domestic and affiliated offices in China and in 64 offices overseas.
