I sometimes think that the number of World War Ⅰ aviators who published memoirs must be larger than the number of those who restrained themselves. Still, many, if not most, of those first-person accounts are still worth reading today. You can add "Tich" Rochford's book to that number. At a time when nine months constituted a normal tour of combat duty in the Royal Flying Corps, Rochford served for almost two years as a fighter pilot, first with the RFC's No. 3 (Naval) Squadron, then with the Royal Air Force's No. 203 Squadron.
