In the nearly 13 years of combat operations that have marked the period since September 2001, manned intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) platforms have come of age as an essential tool for US and allied forces alongside unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). In terms of " manned ISR platforms, the Beechcraft 350 King Air (B350) has evolved as the most popular and successful model, in service with the US Air Force (USAF) as the highly regarded MC-12W Liberty, and with multiple other air arms, including the Royal Air Force, the Iraqi Air Force and the Colombian Air Force.
