The Israel Air Force has purchased five surplus Sikorsky CH-53D Sea Stallions (BuNos 156961, 157150, 157176, 157733 and 157749) as a source of spares for its fleet of CH-53 Yasur (Albatross) helicopters. The helicopters will be used by Air Maintenance Unit 22 (AMU22), based at Tel Nof AB, to support the upgrade of the active fleet to Yasur 2025 standard, which will extend their service lives until a planned purchase of the new CH-53K.
