HATS Down-Select Soon

A shortlist of two or three industry teams competing for the Australian Defence Force's Helicopter Aircrew Training System (HATS), Project AIR 9000 Phase 7, is expected soon. HATS is a training system that will replace Army Bell 206B-1 Kiowas and Navy Aerospatiale AS350BA Ecureuils with a modern, twin-engine, glass cockpit helicopter. It will also replace existing aircrew training practices and courseware with a holistic system designed to better represent modern battlefield and shipboard helicopters. Down-selection had previously been expected by industry partners around December 2012/January 2013.
