The first course of RAF pilots for the service's new unmanned specialism have been awarded their wings. Although the RAF has had unmanned air system pilots for several years, these four are the first officers to qualify on the RAF's so-called Remotely Piloted Air Systems (RPAS) directly after training. The RPAS 'wings' differ slightly from those issued to other pilots by having blue (rather than brown) laurel leaves. Up until the graduation, announced on April 2, RAF RPAS pilots have been posted after serving on other manned aircraft. The ceremony took place at Creech AFB, Nevada, from where the service currently controls its General Atomics Aeronautical Systems MQ-9 Reapers.
