Innovation at easyJet

Efficiency is a watchword for low-cost carriers (LCCs). The successful budget airlines worldwide have built their businesses by working their aircraft hard with quick turnarounds to maximise the number of sectors flown during a day. This year easyJet, the UK's largest low-fare carrier, will trial three new technologies aimed at helping it adhere to that plan. Unmanned aircraft, apps and augmented reality (which superimposes a computer-generated image on a user's view of the real world) will all be used to speed up its engineering operations to maximise the time its aircraft spend in the air.
