Poland acquires 24 Turkish UAVs

POLAND WILL buy 24 examples of Turkey's first operational indigenous UAV, the Bayraktar TB2. An agreement was signed in May by Polish president Andrzej Duda and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.It is the first time a NATO member and EU country has purchased Turkish UAVs.The deal covers the aircraft, ground control stations, ground data terminals and Roketsan MAM-C and MAM-L laser-guided bombs. A fleet of 180 Bayraktar TB2s has amassed 320,000 flight hours. The Turkish Armed Forces have used the type since 2014, supporting defence and security operations. The aircraft has also been used to support search and rescue operations - particularly following the 6.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Elazig on January 24, 2020 - and to monitor forests for fire protection, as well as observing migration movements in the Aegean and Mediterranean seas.Bayraktar TB2 UAVs have also been exported to Qatar, Azerbaijan and Ukraine.
