BRANDENBURG finally takes flight

It's official. After almost a decade of setbacks and false starts, Berlin Brandenburg Airport Willy Brandt (BER) is open for business. Engelbert Lutke Daldrup, head of the airport operating company Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg (FBB), welcomed the first two aircraft to the new terminal on October 31, 2020. Operated by easyJet and Lufthansa, their passengers included easyJet CEO Johan Lundgren and Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr. The first commercial flights arrived at Terminal 1 the same afternoon, while the maiden departure- flown by easyJet to London/Gatwick- left BER the following morning.
