No.814 NAS is the one of the few Fleet Air Arm squadrons that has gained a name, in this case, the 'Flying Tigers'. As well as recently manning the Seeb detachment, the unit also sent two of its Merlins to Stavanger, Norway, in June for two weeks to test the sonar in littoral conditions. An underwater range was used which has fixed undersea transponders, while expendable mobile acoustic tracking (EMATT) targets were tracked to simulate submarines.
