Saudi Arabia Becomes S-70i Launch Customer...and Orders S-76Ds

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Interior was revealed as the launch customer for the Sikorsky S-70i International Black Hawk on July 20 at the Famborough International Airshow. Three helicopters will be delivered, while options have been taken for another 12. The first S-70i will be handed over in early 2011. The following day an orderfor 12 S-76Ds, plus options for an additional eight, was announced for the same customer. It is the largest fleet of S-76Ds ordered to date. The initial example is due to be delivered to Saudi Arabia in early 2012 and will be employed on security, transport and other missions.
