Seoul seeks oil deals

The chief executive of the Korea National Oil Corp (KNOC), Kang Young-won, accompanied South Korea president Lee Myung-bak on a 10 day tour of South Africa, Democratic Republic of Congo and Ethiopia in early July. Two oil cooperation contracts were penned on the occasion. One of them, with PetroSA in Pretoria, involved joint oil exploration and the second with Cohydro in Kinshasa was aimed at establishing the potential of a number of sedimentary basins in DRC.
