Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan's special adviser for the Delta region since February of this year, Kingsley Kuku, was confirmed in his post in early July following Jonathan's election in May. Kuku will continue with the arduous task of pursuing the amnesty process with militants from the Delta. He holds the purse-strings for the initiative which concerns 26,000 former militants and has indirectly allowed Nigeria's oil production to remain above 2 million bpd since the process began in June, 2009.
