BURUNDI Growing political turmoil holds back power sector's advance

Interconnection work between the Ruzizi 1 and 2 dams on the Ruzizi river and Bujumbura has ground to a halt because of the worsening political and security situation in Burundi. The stoppage has been blamed in part on negligence by Burundi's representatives on EGL, a tripartite organization set up by Congo-K, Rwanda and Burundi which manages the interconnection project.
