Africa Glencore gradually gives up on exploration dreams

In late 2017, Aziz Rabbah, Moroccan energy minister and Mohamed Boussaid, minister of the economy and finance, rubber stamped Swiss trader Glencore’s exit from the Boujdour Offshore Shallow block. The trader’s shares were transferred to the block operator, local firm Teredo Morocco. Glencore, who retracted from Foum Ognit last year ( AEI 793), has decided to put an end to its Moroccan operations, for some part due to investors being reluctant to get on board projects in the disputed Western Sahara region.
