At Bicester on April 6, the Czerwin ski-Shenstone Harbinger Mk 2 high performance sailplane, BGA 1091, flew for the first time in 11 years following restoration by Dave Bullock in his workshop at the Oxfordshire airfield. Owned by Susy and Jed Edyvean, the glider, one of only two examples built, was designed in Toronto by Waclaw Czerwinski, who was then working for Avro Canada, and Beverley Shenstone, a Canadian government representative at the Avro Canada factory. The machine was devised by Shenstone and Czerwinski during 1947 for a British Gliding Association design competition for a new two-seat high performance training glider.
