Wallis's 'Stratosphere' opened at Brooklands

At the Brooklands Museum in Weybridge, Surrey, the unique high-altitude research Stratosphere Chamber, built in 1947 for the inventor Sir Barnes Wallis, was re-opened on March 14 by his daughter, Mary Stopes-Roe. The research facility, which was used to investigate high-speed flight at very high altitudes, has been restored over the past 16 months with the aid of a £120,000 grant from the Association of Independent Museums (AIM) Biffa Award Scheme.
