One of the highlights of the end of the flying season in the United Kingdom, the Historic Aircraft Association's Annual Symposium at the RAF Museum Hendon, again exceeded expectations. I must claim some bias, as this year I was asked to take the stage to talk about our exploits with the 'Biggies Biplane' BE2c replica, but I was delighted to be outclassed by other speakers. The first part of the symposium was dedicated to flying in the Great War, and there could be no greater advocates for the subject than Russell Savory, talking about his passion for preserving the 'timewarp' Royal Flying Corps aerodrome at Stow Maries in Essex, and Roger 'Dodge' Bailey, the chief pilot of the Shuttleworth Collection. It was interesting to see that 'Dodge's' talk on flying the various WW1 types in the Collection had some experienced fellow pilots in the audience rapidly scribbling notes!
