I'm inevitably a little biased, but the 2021 LAA Rally at Sywell was perhaps one of the best of recent times, made all the sweeter because, for many members, this was the first event they had visited since the start of the initial COVID-19 lockdown. It was thus both a reunion and a celebration of the 75th anniversary of the association. The rally was certainly busy, with around 780 aircraft arrivals over the weekend and the aircraft park accommodating in excess of 420 aeroplanes on Saturday afternoon alone. It was appropriate that the event looked both forwards and back, with new innovations such as the Nuncats electric bush-plane project and Ivan Shaw's ISA 180 Seeker personal aircraft pointing the way ahead, in contrast to some interesting vintage types helping celebrate the association's heritage.
