AEROPLANE meets MATTHEW BODDINGTON

Sywell aerodrome, Northamptonshire, in March 1969. From the large grass airfield, a replica Royal Aircraft Factory BE2c gets airborne for its maiden flight, having been built in just 10 weeks for use in a movie, Biggies Sweeps The Skies. At the controls is the man who masterminded its construction, Charles Boddington, one of the most prominent and talented aerobatic, display and film pilots of his era whose big-screen flying credits included The Blue Max and Darling Lili. And watching from the knee of a family friend is a six-year-old boy, Charles's son Matthew, already inculcated into the world of aviation.
