A Czech specialist in electrospinning technology has introduced an updated version of its machine designed specifically to allow academic researchers to investigate nanofibre webs and membranes. Liberec-based Elmarco's Nanospider (NS) LAB now uses the same stationary wire electrode system found on the more expensive models- NS IWS500U, NS 4S1000U and NS 8S1600U - that the company has sold to industrial customers since 2010. Compared with the original solid metal electrode, the manufacturer says, the updated system offers users: higher throughput; better uniformity of the web; greater flexibility when switching between different polymers; more stable performance.
