Patients’ inability to modify their lifestyle for a disorder attributed tonsedentary lifestyle, limited long-term efficacy of current antihyperglycemicnmedications, and objection to the use of such medications as insulin mayncontribute to poor glycemic control in type 2 diabetes. Poor glycemicncontrol may be caused by an unacceptable route of medication (e.g., parenteral)nand fear of hypoglycemia. Therefore, inhaled insulin preparationsnare an interesting addition to the therapeutic armamentarium.
