John Ormerod is not a man to shirk a challenge. When Andersen collapsed, Ormerod, then UK managing partner, went on the offensive, admitted errors, and even survived a grilling by Jeremy Vine on BBC's Newsnight. So is his latest venture a chance to stay out of the limelight for a while? That's questionable. Ormerod revealed last month he was taking up an appointment as non-executive chairman of Walbrook, a Guernsey-based offshore tax advisory group, taken private last year in a management buyout from Deloitte. Ormerod, 56, said he would give his new employers'any time they want' though he won't be flitting off to the Channel Islands much, preferring to work from his Highgate, north London home.
