DON'T MENTION THE LIB DEMS

It is perhaps with some relief that the politicians are returning to work after their interminably long summer recess. At least the conference season will keep them amused, as the summer hiatus seemed to give the LibDems some pretty wacky ideas about tax policy, particularly their approach to capital gains tax. They seemed to lose all sense of reality with their proposal for a 10% CGT rate. A cold shower and a dose of fiscal realism should be top of the autumn agenda for the LibDem's entire 'tax working group'.
