Field names aren't always easy to work with. Sometimes they're long and typing them repeatedly is laborious and prone to typos. Sometimes, they aren't descriptive and that makes them hard to remember. The good news is you aren't stuck with the existing name. You can assign an alias to a field. The odd thing is that Access seems to respond to the alias inconsistently. Sometimes Access uses the alias, sometimes not. Remembering that objects will inherit an alias goes a long way toward avoiding confusion months later, after you've forgotten about the alias.
