Knowledge perception and attitudes toward epilepsy among medicalstudents at King Abdulaziz University

摘要

Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disorder characterized by repetitiveseizures which could occur in different forms depending on the site of braindisturbance. It has both psychological as well as social effects resultingin stigmatization and isolation of epileptic patients. Even though medicalstudents are considered a role model of well-educated communities, previousstudies showed that students lack the satisfactory knowledge and attitudestoward epilepsy, so it is important to evaluate the concept of epilepsy andto measure awareness and attitudes toward epileptic patients among medicalstudents of King Abdulaziz University. The aim of this study is to determineknowledge, perception and attitudes toward epilepsy among medical studentsat King Abdulaziz University.
