A posterior-only approach for ankylosing spondylitis (AS) with thoracolumbar pseudoarthrosis: a clinical retrospective study

A 61- year old female suffered from progressive kyphosis and mechanical pain for 1 year. Sagittal X-ray of the lumbar spine ( ) showed a discovertebral destructive lesions at T10/11. A sagittal reconstructed CT image and MRI ( and ) showed central osteolysis and surrounding sclerotic endplate at T10/11. Sagittal X ray of lumbar spine after the operation ( ) showed good internal fixation and kyphosis correction without anterior fusion. Sagittal X ray of lumbar spine ( ) and sagittal reconstructed CT image ( ) at 2-year follow-up confirmed good fusion of the pseudarthrosis at T10/11
