Searching for Patient-specific Health Information on the World Wide Web: An Exploration of Nurses Search Behavior

The ability of the World Wide Web (WWW) to distribute information has created a vast array of applications. In nursing practice, it is seen as a resource for evidence-based practice, a tool to disseminate accurate health information to patients, and an infrastructure to provide tailored nursing care.Surprisingly, nurses have not fully taken advantage of this technology yet. Nurses lack strategies on how to integrate the WWW resources in practice and methods finding what they want amid millions of WebPages available. Therefore, this research focuses on cognitive strategies nurses use when searching for patient-specific information on the WWW.
