This paper will describe an interactive videodisc (IVD) approach to the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of early breast cancers through a series of eight case study simulations. The medical student/physician is provided with two means of instruction at each step of the simulation. Feedback is provided immediately for each student choice during the case interaction. The student also has access to reference material that is pertinent to each step in the case simulation that contains information and recommended options for the decisions that they must make.
