Speedy corridor plus flexible routing is a new innovative Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system development, which has been explored. Taking Guangzhou BRT pilot line as an example, this paper discusses the three key elements of this new innovative system: special corridors, flexible routing operation, and effective service at stations. The paper analyzes the advantages of the system in saving bus travel time and meeting passengers demand. Through an analysis on characteristics of the system, the paper summarizes the relationship between the three key elements and BRT performance based on comprising the traditional trunk & feeder with direct-service operations.
