Tiny cracks could be found out on the surface ofprestressed concrete girders with careful observation.Some cracks are in certain directions, but most of themare orderless. In the initial stage, these small cracks arenot harmful to the girders, but as time went by, thesecracks may gradually grow serious because of exoticburthen and temperature changes. Cracks may resultin the erosion of steel bars, the debase of anti-splitcapacity of girders, the fall of the effective height ofsections, thus cause the reduction of anti-bending andanti-twist capacity of the girder structure. If only we findout the reasons for cracks and put forward effectivemeasures to deal with it, cracks could be avoided.
