养老包含养生送死,但当下关于养老的探讨多集中于生养,临终关怀的不足和死亡质量的低下值得反思.来自江苏省两家佛教安养院的安养理论与临终关怀实践,展示了佛教安养院发生的临终关怀,将养老、修行、临终关怀、往生礼仪结为一体.这种安养理论及临终关怀,不但具有身心兼顾的双重功能,而且突显出了抵制过度医疗的特殊意义.%Eldercare involves both providing for the living and caring for the dying before their end of life. Most discussion about elderly care has focused on supporting the aged, but little attention has been given to the lack of hospice care and the low quality of death. This paper examines how two Buddhist nursing homes in Jiangsu have followed the Buddhist concept of"peaceful nursing"and prac-tised hospice care. This paper holds that, integrating eldercare, spiritual practice, hospice care and rites of salvation, the Buddhist concept of care provision has unique values in that it not only cares for the senior people physically and spiritually but also help them avoid excessive medical intervention.
