Objective To assess the outcome of treating complex injuries of the elbow with the Unilateral hinged external fixator. Methods Nine patients were treated, three with supra-intercondylar fracture, three with fracture-dislocation of the elbow, two with old unreduced dislocation of the elbow,one with amputated of the elbow. The fixatorwas applied for a mean of 8. 6weeks (6 ~ 16weeks). Results All cases were followed up for 6 ~ 15 months. All the fractures were united, and no instability of the joint was noted. All the patients maintained a functional ange of motion, with lack of extension less than 15° and flexion more than 120° without patients who developed transient palsy of the radial nerve and two patients who developed pin track infection were treated with oral antibiotics. Conclusion Despite the technical difficulties, external fixation of the elbow could be a salvage procedure in difficult cases of elbow trauma, where open procedures are not indicated.%目的 链外支架在复杂肘关节损伤中的临床应用效果.方法 从2004年4月～2009年4月采用铰链外支架治疗复杂肘关节损伤9例.髁上髁间骨折3例,骨折脱位3例,陈旧脱位2例,离断伤1例.外支架使用6～16周,平均8.6周.结果 平均随访11.4个月,所有骨折均愈合,无脱位复发及肘关节不稳,肘关节活动范围15～120°.2例针道感染,无1例神经损伤.结论 铰链外支架在复杂肘关节损伤中的应用能达到良好临床效果.
