The paper indicates the importance and significance of the precautionary maintenance in the total lifecycle of roads,introduces the de-cision-making of the maintenance from the maintenance technique evaluation,selection for maintenance optimal time,and selection for mainte-nance approaches,and points out the precautionary maintenance can prolong the lifespan of roads,improve the roadbeds and lower the mainte-nance cost in the total lifecycle.%论述了公路全寿命周期中预防性养护的重要性以及重大意义，从养护技术评估、养护最优时间的选择、养护方式的选择三方面介绍了公路预防性养护的决策，指出预防性养护可以延长公路使用寿命，改善路面状况以及降低全寿命周期中的养护成本。
