Gettysburg Address:Textual Analysis and Teaching Design

     

摘要

Grammar instruction takes an important role in language teaching in EFL context, and contextualized analysis of authen⁃tic texts can help learners better understand Larsen-Freeman's (2003) three dimensions—form, meaning and use of related gram⁃matical features. This article will analyze Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address (hereafter GA for short) in terms of tense/aspect, modality and cohesion, and briefly discuss how it could be used in teaching.
